Klas Lindquist was born in 1975 in Göteborg, Sweden, and plays the alto saxophone and the clarinet. He has studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. He has his own nine-piece band, the Klas Lindquist Nonet, that plays mainly compositions by Klas. He also plays in other bands such as The Stockholm Swing All Stars, The Stockholm Voices and together with musicians like American singer and pianist Champian Fulton and Swedish musicians like Ulf Johansson Werre and Jan Lundgren

In 2005 Klas received the prestigious “Golden Sax” award from the Swedish saxophone legend Arne Domnérus and just a few months later he received the Alice Babs Award. In 2006, he won first prize in the Brussels Jazz Orchestra International Composition Contest. In spring 2011 Klas received The Culture Award of the city of Stockholm and in 2017 he received the Stena Culture Award.

Klas now lives in Stockholm but travels around the world playing in many different line-ups together with leading musicians of the jazz scene today.
